What do the patients say?

sdcc-header

Every individual with diabetes should be at the heart of the treatment provided by Steno Diabetes Centers. Patients have different needs, and treatment should therefore be tailored to each individual. For example, this may include greater involvement in both prevention and treatment, differentiated initiatives adapted to each individual and involving patients at an organizational level. The ambition is to create a welcoming environment that is not like a traditional hospital, with the relevant therapists in one location.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation commissioned a qualitative survey of patients to determine in detail the various needs and challenges people can experience when living with diabetes. The purpose of the survey was to obtain in-depth understanding of what people with diabetes consider as good treatment and the ideal physical environment for treating diabetes. The survey was carried out to ensure a patient-centred approach, accessibility and coherence in treatment.

This survey has led to three books (in Danish), each with a different focus:

’Who we are – 15 portraits of people with diabetes’

’Who we are – 15 portraits of people with diabetes’ : profiles the 15 people in the survey, who tell about how they live with diabetes.
