Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen
The largest diabetes centre in northern Europe
Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) was established on 1 January 2017. It was run from the original Steno Diabetes Center site in Gentofte before moving to a new building at Herlev Hospital, west of Copenhagen, in 2021. SDCC was the first of the new Steno centres.
The vision for SDCC is to create the best possible treatment process and results for every person with diabetes in the capital region. It is the largest diabetes centre in northern Europe, with 11,000-13,000 people treated annually.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has committed up to DKK 2.95 billion (€395 million) for SDCC. The funding period runs until 2029, with a possible extension thereafter.
