Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus
Collaborating across sectors to improve care
Website:
Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus (SDCA) was designed to be an innovative diabetes outpatient centre, generating specialized knowledge and putting individuals with diabetes at the heart of all its activities. The aim is to develop and disseminate new treatment and prevention methods, and ultimately slow the growth and progression of diabetes in the region.
SDCA opened in 2018. The centre now occupies part of a new building on the Aarhus University Hospital site and treats around 8,000 people annually.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has committed up to DKK 1.4 billion (€188 million) for SDCA. The funding period runs until 2027, with a possible extension thereafter.
