A prospective observational study of the association between plasma vitamin D and the development and progression of complications in patients with diabetes associated with Steno Diabetes Center
We have yet to understand many of the reasons why people with diabetes develop diabetic complications. Evidence suggests that vitamin D has an impact on diabetes complications of kidney, bone and cardiovascular diseases, but how and why?
The goal of the study is:
• To investigate the blood levels of vitamin D in patients with diabetes and look at the context of complications with special focus on bone, vascular and kidney disease
To investigate this we are collecting blood and urine samples from all patients at Steno Diabetes Center.
Design and method
